The author starts off with hearsay in the introduction:
It's worth noting that Mace couldn't get any South Carolina based website or publication to publish her drivel.Perhaps she specifically sought out RedState because it is one of the top conservative sites in the nation? That's something to consider. What notable South Carolina sites are there that are comparable to RedState's audience?
Let's go through the series of claims and rebuttals, and then I will post my rebuttal.
Nancy Mace's Claim: In Senator Graham’s world, arming al-Qaeda in Syria is a good idea.
Fact: Al-Qaeda doesn't need weapons from anyone and Senator Graham never voted to arm al-Qaeda.Red herring fallacy. Whether Al-Qaeda needs weapons is irrelevant to the claim. Whether Al-Qaeda receives additional weapons is relevant, and the for someone to consider something a "good idea", it is not required they take a vote on said idea.
Nancy Mace's Claim: In Senator Graham’s world, government should always be trusted but never the American citizen.Appeal to authority fallacy. I could easily cite scores from FreedomWorks, the Club For Growth, the Heritage Foundation, or a whole host of other additional organization. Additionally, this is a bald-faced lie as AFP has awarded Graham a current grade of 69% and a lifetime score of 83%. Considering Graham's recent statements on mail searches, the rights of bloggers, and phone records, Mace's statement is hardly erroneous.
Fact: America's largest pro-freedom organization, Americans for Prosperity (2.3 Million grassroots activists strong) gave Senator Graham a 100% rating for his voting record in Congress. AFP doesn't award grades like that to Senators that "never trust the American citizen" as Mace erroneously claims.
Nancy Mace's Claim: In Senator Graham’s world, the Constitution doesn’t exist.A poor attempt to respond to an allegorical statement. It is worth noting Graham believes in the theory of war time powers which suspend the Constitution. War powers are not contained in the Constitution, however. On a practical basis, the Constitution may as well not exist.
Fact: Senator Graham spent several years at the University of South Carolina School of Law studying the Constitution, opened his own private practice as an attorney and served in the U.S. Air Force as a J.A.G. Lawyer.
Nancy Mace's Claim: In Senator Graham’s world, the entire Bill of Rights is negotiable.Except the Patriot Act, FISA, indefinite detention in the NDAA, the TSA, the Department of Homeland Security, and probably more things that don't immediately come to mind.
Fact: As an attorney and as a legislator Lindsey Graham has never voted for legislation that endangers the rights of American citizens.
Nancy Mace's Claim: In Senator Graham’s world, our constitutional rights seem constantly up for debate.Did Lindsey Graham debate Democrats and Obama on the NSA spying, the drone and "kill list" controversy, or any of the other relevant Bil of Rights issues of the day other than gun control?
Fact: Mace is right. Constitutional rights are constantly up for debate because Barack Obama is relentless in his pursuit of their erosion. Senator Graham is constantly debating Democrats to ensure our constitutional rights remain intact.
Nancy Mace's Claim: In Senator Graham’s world, he says we’re fighting for freedom but is the first to surrender all of them.No thanks. There is no good reason for people to take your word for anything. Not your opinion, nor your appeals to authority, qualify as facts.Your defense of Lindsey Graham is disgusting.
Fact: Nothing could be further from the truth. But do not take our word for it ask the American Security Council why it awarded Lindsey Graham a 100% rating for his crusades against tyranny and in support of freedom in America and abroad.
Apparently Graham has the RINO machine behind him. If Nancy takes this all the way to November, she will have her work cut out for her. However, I do hope she will prevail.
