Senator Thad Cochran Is Neither A Conservative Nor A Leader

Mississippi Senator Thad Cochran, who has been in Congress since 1978, makes his pitch for re-election clear on his campaign website: "Let's Keep Mississippi's Conservative Leadership."

But by what measure does Cochran consider himself conservative? It is true that he would be considered a conservative in states like Massachusetts or Maine. But Cochran is from deep-red Mississippi. His ratings on conservative scorecards do not hold up.

The scorecards below have given Cochran the following lifetime ratings:

FreedomWorks: 57%

The New American Freedom Index: 54%

Club for Growth: 67%

Heritage Action: 59%

All of these are failing grades. And Senator Cochran has been failing to lead as well.

Where was Cochran when Rand Paul and Ted Cruz launched their filibusters? What notable bills has Cochran introduced?

Senator Cochran has not fought boldly against the growth of government, nor has he significantly attempted to roll back government.

Chris McDaniel, Cochran's primary opponent, is a much better choice for Mississippi. You can learn more about him at his website: http://mcdaniel2014.com/
