Congressmen Stockman, Yoho Seek To Impeach Obama, Holder

Said Stockman: "We have lawyers looking at it right now."

Meanwhile, Congressman Ted Yoho of Florida is spearheading the effort to impeach Attorney General Eric Holder.

“Whether it was Fast and Furious or some of these other [scandals], not enforcing the laws on the books and not upholding his constitutional duties and violating the law on numerous occasions- these things have been mounting up… When we got back from this last break we just said, ‘We’re going to go ahead with this. There’s just too many things that they’ve done in this administration, especially with the Attorney General, that anybody else in America, had they done what he had done, would go to jail. And so, the American people want accountability in their government and this is the time to start it.

If we take Republican issues out of it and Democratic issues and take race out of it- if this was anybody doing these things, this would be the correct thing to do; get them out of office because they’re not representing people of this country, they’re not doing the duties of the job they were hired to do and they’re breaking the law and they lied under oath.”

 Both efforts are likely to be blocked by Speaker John Boehner.

Rep. Steve Stockman calls out immigration bill as unconstitutional

Texas Congressman Steve Stockman, one-term hell raiser from the 1994 wave who returned to the House in 2012, has urged Speaker Boehner to “blue slip” the Senate immigration bill.

A blue slip is used by the House when it is deemed that taxing and spending measures did not originate in the House itself. If used, it would return the bill to the Senate.

Here is the letter by Stockman to Boehner:

Dear Mr. Speaker,

When the House of Representatives receives S. 744, I hereby request that you raise a point of order that the legislation violates the origination clause of the United States Constitution; that “all Bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives.”

Although there are other provisions in the bill which are in violation of the prerogatives of the House, the most obvious is section 2102 which requires the payment of certain taxes and forgives the payment of other taxes as a condition of receiving benefits under this legislation.

The Congressional Budget Office analysis of S. 744, dated June 18, 2013, on page 44 states in part that “enacting S. 744 would have a wide range of effects on federal revenues, including changes in collections of income and payroll taxes, certain visa fees that are classified as revenues, and various fines and penalties. Taken together, those effects would increase revenues by $459 billion over the 2014-2023 period, according to estimates by JCT and CBO.”

Therefore, I urge you to protect the origination clause and the intent of the Constitution by using the ‘blue slip’ to return S. 744 to the Senate.

Howard Phillips, founder of the Constitution Party, in failing health

Howard Phillips, who founded The Conservative Caucus in 1974 and the U.S. Taxpayer's Party (now the Constitution Party) in 1991, is nearing the end of his productive life according to his son Sam.

Dear friends,

I would ask you to remember my beloved Dad in your prayers in a special way today. He is in his final stages and is not expected to survive beyond the next few days.

When we received his official diagnosis of Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD) and Alzheimers just two years ago we never could have been prepared for the disturbingly rapid deterioration he would undergo. The deadly combination of these two powerful diseases is more than any man can long withstand, even a man as tenacious and sharp as my father. Dad had been such an intelligent and charming man, that he managed to mask his condition from family and friends for a long period before we were able to intellectually and emotionally come to grips with the medical reality of what was happening. Even in recent months as his condition greatly worsened, when visitors dropped by Dad would often surprise us with his ability to “rise to the occasion” and engage with charm those around him for short periods of time.

We ask for God’s mercy and blessing that Dad might feel comfort and deep abiding peace during these precious final moments, and, most importantly, that he might experience joy eternal afterwards.

 This is very sad news. Phillips was the Constitution Party candidate for President in the 1992, 1996, and 2000 elections. In 2011 Phillips had to step down as head of The Conservative Caucus (TCC) due to his declining health. This also meant an end to the excellent weekly television program produced by the TCC, Conservative Roundtable, which lasted 17 years and put out 421 episodes.

Phillips has authored 4 books:
